One quote a day.
Written for where you are.

Every reader opens Wake With Purpose to the same quote on the same morning. What follows — the reflection, and 3 small things to carry into the day — is written just for the season of life you’re in.

In the morning when thou risest unwillingly, let this thought be present,—I am rising to the work of a human being.

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations V.1 (tr. George Long)

Reflect

You do not have to want the day to meet it well.

Apply

Before you check your phone, name one thing today is for.

Notice the first kindness of the day and do not explain it away.

Leave one thing unfinished tonight without apologising for it.

Try it!

The day

Short enough to actually read. Long enough to sit with.

One screen, four things, and nothing else asking for your attention. No feed, no streak to protect, no badge for showing up.

The same quote for everyone

Whoever else is reading Wake With Purpose this morning is reading exactly what you are. The shared text is the point; imagine the power of hundreds of thousands of people reading and reflecting on the same words at once.

A reflection meant for you

A few hundred words, in movements, written for your season and your relationships. A father of teenagers and a widower in their first year do not need the same paragraph about the same quote.

Three things to carry

Not homework. Three small, specific, doable things, chosen from a wider pool against your life stage and family. Chosen once, so the list is the same when you come back to it.

Held gently

Readers in grief, widowed, or separated are only ever served reflections a person has read first. Nothing auto-approved reaches them, whatever else exists.

How it works

You answer a few questions once.

  1. 01

    Tell us where you are

Your season, who you are living it with, your stage of life. Five questions, once, and you can change any of them later.

  2. 02

    Open it in the morning

The day is waiting when you get there: quote, reflection, three practices. It works offline; yesterday is still there if this morning got away from you.

  3. 03

Tick them off, or do not

Finishing all three drops a little confetti in your own palette. Nothing counts it, nothing chases you about it, nothing breaks if you skip a week.

Palettes

Six palettes. The app wears one, and so does this page.

The page is a gradient rather than a flat colour, and it runs the whole length of the app without restarting at a screen edge. Pick one below and watch. This site is painted from the same tokens the app is, so what you choose here is what a morning looks like there. Even the icon follows.

Ask for an invitation

Wake With Purpose is in a small private beta while the reflections are being written and read. Leave an address and a line about the season you are in, and we will be in touch.

We will only use your address to write to you about Wake With Purpose. See our Privacy Policy.
